Time to get outside and find wonder in the open-air world of art!

Here’s an amazing sampling of diverse art forms and ideas, that artists from across the globe have created, which invite examination, enjoyment, discussion, and wonder.

This is a two-for-one! Not only does encountering art in the street or park provide us with a range of emotions from surprise, even shock and challenge at new ideas, “why is this here – is this art?”,  in addition, connecting to art in our very ‘built’ environment sends the clear message of the need to connect with the natural world, yielding benefits for our health and social and emotional well-being.

Get ready to see a 25-foot tall bare, startlingly red, and pink tree which is sprouting from the High Line this May. Opening on May 8th, Old Tree is the third Plinth sculpture to grace the Spur section of the High Line at 10th Avenue and West 30th Street. Reminiscent of the human body, we can see how interconnected we are with nature, the intense color situated in the grays and blues of the surrounding city landscape is breathtaking. For More Info

Phyllida Barlow’s work, PRANK at City Hall Park in Manhattan is playful, sensational in scope and whimsical and opening June 7th. Her work, constructed of recycled materials, shows a confidence and exuberance in its scale and vision. Being open to innovative ideas and perspectives is one of the underpinnings of a social emotional experience, acceptance of others’ vision and awe at the drive and persistence it takes to believe in your own vision, a subtle boost to your own self-esteem.
