Young Adults & College Life

Shared discussions about effective ways to cope with challenges and emotions away from home

The leap to college is loaded with challenges for teenagers.

In Person or Zoom Sessions

College Life Gatherings in Person
Tuesdays
7:00 - 8:30 pm

Thursdays 5:45 - 7:15 pm

Take a look at the the issues college students have to deal with:
• Challenges of living on your own
• Managing their own budget (financial wellness)
• Setting their own schedule (executive functioning and organizational strategies)
• Structuring their studies alone
• Living in a new city or town without parental supervision.

Strengthening Social Skills: Isolation is the enemy of positive adjustment . During these past 18 months, students have experienced isolation in a way they may not experience again for the rest of their lives. Rejoining society involves careful practice and review of social skills and reviewing the nuances of building and maintaining friendships. College support groups help students develop the confidence and skills they need to feel more comfortable and confident in social situations, and learn to be more assertive and expressive.

Providing Emotional Support: Learn how to cope with the challenges and range of emotions of college in effective ways through proper self-care and prioritization of mental health.

Gaining Independence: Sometimes struggling students turn to their parents for support. Though parents can offer long-distance relief, when college students remain too emotionally dependent on their parents, they suffer gaps in their maturity. College support groups help students to develop the confidence to stand on their own and become self-reliant.
